Note on Services rendered as an Intl. Exchange program Coordinator:

While NTU has substantial number of international students coming to spend one/two semesters, and such exchange students contribute for international culture over our campus,  I also feel that our students should derive the benefit of their exchange, and we need to encourage our students to go out for exchange programs.  Going for international exchange program involves substantial adjustments, and even facing some difficulties; however, the experience is worth taking the trouble.

When I took over as an INSTEP-Coordinator in 2002, NTU had few (less than 10) students (going out from NTU) for international exchange.  With increased efforts to encourage NTU students to have international experience, by 2005, the number of students going for international exchange had jumped to about 50 to 60 students per year.  Further, the process of handing over the exchange program duties to Prof Ong Yew Soon, involved substantial part of mentoring a colleague regarding the details involved in the exchange program(s).
