2011

A separate department, 'Dept. of  Computer Science and Engg.' carved out

of the existing 'Dept. of Electronics and Computer Science Engg.'
2008

Additional faculty recruited at all levels.  UG intake strength reaches 90.

2007

A full-time 4-semester M.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering started.  Class rooms and faculty rooms shifted again to a new building.

2006 Faculty strength further increased.  Graded increase in intake of UG students begins
2003

Part-time M.Tech(by Research) and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science & Engg begin.

2002

College granted 'Deemed University' status in recognition of its academic standing and renamed as 'Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology'.

2001

Best ever GATE performance – Apurva Jadhav tops GATE (CS) exam.  Of the top 20 All-India ranks in GATE (CS), 8 bagged by our students.

1999 Linux running on PC-AT486 machines supplement existing ORG system and Sun/Alpha workstations
1997 Campus-wide fiber-optic backbone becomes functional.  First VSAT system in Central India installed in the Computer Center.
1996

Grants secured from Govt. of India for enhancement of infrastructure.  High-end servers / workstations from Sun Microsystems and DEC installed.

 1995

 Laboratory equipment upgraded with additional PCs, Novell Netware File Server etc.  Faculty strength further augmented.

 1994

 A separate department, 'Dept. of Electronics and Computer Science Engg.' carved out of the existing 'Dept. of Electrical Engineering'.  Classrooms and labs shifted to new building.

1991

 Additional faculty recruited.  First batch of students graduate.  Excellent performance in GATE, GRE and AGRE sets the trend for subsequent batches

1990

 ORG Supermax (68030-based Unix system) with 16 nos.

 VT-220 alphanumeric terminals procured and installed

1988

 Three faculty members join the college to help run the program

1987

 B.E.(Computer Science & Engg.) program started. 

 First batch of 30 students admitted to the first year.
